Evening Ride to the Pemigewasset River
May 2014
I had a few minutes this evening and made a quick run down to
the Pemi. The mosquitoes were ready to carry me off, but I
made one quick contact with WA.
It had rained on and off this afternoon, but now the sun was out and
I was
anxious for an outing. I rode in about a mile and set up under a
pine tree
right along the trail. I tossed a 33 foot line over a branch and
used the
earchi.org unun. The view up the river was fantastic.
I covered myself with mosquito spray. 17 and 15 meters were both
dead, so
I tuned up on 20 meters. AE7PG was calling CQ from Chelan, WA. I was
only 339 but we completed the contact easily. Allen was a 579 to me.
I didn't waste any time packing up. My ankles were pretty well
chewed, and I'd had enough of it.
A beaver swam away from the shore as I was peddling back. It's
always great to get out... even
during mosquito season.
