CWT Sprint from the 20 Acre Field
August 2016
What a beautiful summer day! It was in the 70s and perfect for a
walk.
Judy and I hiked up to the 20 acre field. I worked a dozen stations
in the CWT Sprint including France, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
The road passes Ivan Phelps's farm and continues on past where the
town
no longer maintains it. It gets rough. We turn into an abandoned
farm lane
and walk past the old cellar hole and into the 20 Acre Field.
I set up under an old oak tree at the edge of the field. I toss the
line over a
branch that's about 45 feet above ground. I pull up the 30 foot wire
and set
up the KX3 directly under the branch.
By the time I start, the sprint has been going for 40 minutes. I
only operate
for 10 minutes, but there are plenty of stations. Here's my log:

The field is filled with the smells of summer. On the way back we
see purple clover and Queen Anne's
Lace in full bloom. The woods, too are a treasure. Moss, ferns,
mushrooms and trees of every type
line the pathway. It's wonderful to be here.
